Amon Amarth Melkweg (2009)
Melkweg, Amsterdam
12 November 2009
After the support band (Doghouse Gallows, only seven appearances before) the audience did not seem really enthusiastic, but it was time for the headliner Amon Amarth.
After a half hour full of songs from the new album, which is very popular seemed to fall from the present Vikings and of course well-known songs like ‘Gods of war arise’ and ‘With oden on our side “it seemed to be over.
But what is a concert without an encore? And so we got two (or three) songs including ‘Asator. This classic I missed though and I was pleased that it was played.
Nice was that the men in the cello solo of Apocalyptica, during the song “Live for the Kill ‘, all stopped and let the audience come to rest in this beautiful addition. Because there was some pounds off in the pit. Johan (vocalist) once asked for a huge mosh pit, but that question was actually quite unnecessary.
Even the sound was good, unlike previous concerts I’ve visited in the galaxy. All in all a very enjoyable evening full of Viking metal.
If the concert at the present readers of this piece still wonder who that idiot with that yellow-blue coloured Viking hat that stood at the front … I was xD
Score: 6/10
