Arafel doomed! Helge (ex-Equilibrium) doomed? …
I do not think so!
When you listen to the album “For Battles once Fought” you immediately hear the arrival of Helge at Arafel os the froth on the beer. The heavy metal sound that is full of folky violin-melodies is doing fine with the hoarse voice of the German metal Helge.
Despite the very unique sound of the band, they prove time and time again, they are very versatile, tempo and mood changes in the songs are frequently are present and well thought out. One of the highlights of the album is in my mind 1380: The Confrontation. A great song in which everything the band has in stock is worked out.
The band has made itself clear with this album. Arafel has become a band which has to be taken in count.
