Chain of Dogs
Ladies and Ugly people,
Tonight there’s a super performance in the program booklet of Willemeen in Arnhem. There is no folk-metal concert in Arnhem passed without our presence, and with bands like Chain of Dogs of all. The Limburgians started to entertain us with their cheerful yet firm metal. They kicked off with a very strong number, “Doa is mie land”. What was striking in this band (just like the last time I saw them) that it is much harder live than on CD, for me, a good thing. After Arnhem had understood where there country lies, they were ready to go, ‘good to go’ so. As Chain of Dogs played almost the entire new album and a good number of older songs. They brought Rafke along, she was the guest vocalist on their new album. What was unfortunate was the fact that the little Willemeen was not even half full. It was very quiet so, the atmosphere was not what it could have been, but luckily Arne and Olaf could compensate this with their own enthusiasm and along the show they got more and more people joining the party. In between there was still a little scream contest “HOBBITS AREN’T CUTE, HOBBITS ARE FOOD!” the winner received an official “gegen hobbits T-shirt”. They closed with ar, ar, ar, uh R & B? right round, a fun and upbeat song about circling. Oh well, here’s this act end! End? I do not think so, “they just keep playing!”, somebody shouted. And, luckily the gentlemen heard this and they kept on going with a few songs including Bridgeburners. But unfortunately the Limburg had to leave the stage in the end. We went to get some fresh air, because just like with Kampfar, recently, it was horribly hot inside the venue. When I came back, Michel joined me a little later, after his interview with Olaf and the other guys of Chain of Dogs was done, and we were waiting for the occurrence of Finsterforst.
Score: 10/10
Finsterforst
Quite a nice entrance, all dressed in black pants and the rest of their body smeared with black spots, a case of drunks falling in the mud? The singer was drunk indeed. When they entered the stage they played two notes and then shouted “HEY!” two notes again, followed by “HEY!”. This was awesome, especially because they all bowed forward (including the keyboardist in the back) simultaneously and showed us their their fist. They played three songs pretty cool. Although the accordion was much too soft in relation to the guitars. Unfortunately, after this they it went a bit downwards in my opinion, fortunately there were at some point a few fun songs like ‘Lauf der Welt and traumwald. At the end off these, a small pit was formed, started by Arne and Olaf of Chain of Dogs. I could not help myself and joined in. Despite Finsterforst disappointed me a bit, I thought it was still a very nice evening. Especially since Chain of Dogs just gave us a perfect act (thanks guys). And for only 5 euros… love these guys so stay tuned.
