Always fun, mail from Canada. Yes, of course, Europe is the cradle of folk-metal, but this doesn’t mean they can’t make folk-metal on the other side of the big waters.
So, I played it, and again, and again. En in a musical sense, it isn’t bad at all. The male and female vocals are catching. The compositions are well done and taken care of. “Sleeping Village” for instance, has an almost classical sound. In these compositions it reminds a bit of the German band Haggard, But without raw vocals. “Forgotten Forest”, is also a track you shouldn’t forget, interspersed with a whiff Arjen Anthony Lucassen. “Forgotten Forest”, is the best track in my opinions, and of the same sort is “Voice of the Sword”, but this time with more passionate vocals.
To sum it up: From a musical vision, it’s a nice album, but folk-metal can use some more passion I think. Are you a fan of the smooth North-American heavy metal and do you like Haggard, then there’s quite a big chance you like this as well, and maybe you would give it 8 points in that case. I like it more ‘raw’ myself and then I can only give point for the musicality. Probably they like it more in Northern America.
