It’s a fact the ‘Effenaar’ in Eindhoven has on working days also very interesting band on the menu, so much was obvious again. An normal Wednesday and the Vikings from Amon Amarth visit our country for the second time this year (they were in ‘de Melkweg’ in Amsterdam earlier this year). They brought along, like we we’re used to from previous times, two totally irrelevant support acts.
Despite of the fact the evening started off very well with the melodic deathmetal by Sceptic Flesh, after this it was literately tear-jerking with the ‘special guest’ As I Lay Dying. Because of the fact the emo-core of these gentlemen can’t care me less, I’ll spill no words on this act.
After these two ‘warming ups’ it was time form the band everybody had really came for. People who have seen Amon Amarth before, know what they can expect. A setlist which is a real feast and played to perfection by this bearded guys.
This time it wasn’t otherwise. They immediately really hit of with ‘War of the Gods’ and the hit “Runes to my Memory’. The new songs were easily alternated with the older ones, and the audience ate and ate and ate. From the moment they started singer Johan Hegg owned the audience completely and they ate form his had.
Nice to mention was, Johan made a huge mistake by announcing the song ‘Fenrir’ and found out halfway the song, this was to be played later on. Fortunately he grabbed control soon after he discovered this.
All in all a set without many surprises, Amon Amarth was good, enjoyed being on stage, and the audience went crazy. What more do you want?
