Exactly 9 o’clock Tanzwut kicks off in the hall of the Melkweg. There’s no support act, which means we only get to hear the medieval rock sound of Tanzwut for one and a half hour. The but half filled up hall gets a futuristic intro. To this was a big drum and a gong added, and we knew where we were heading to. After this intro, the full band was on stage and kicked off with ‘Weiße Nächte’, the title track of their latest album. What catches the ear was the fact the sound was almost perfect at once. The bagpipes, sometimes four of them together, were could be heard very well and they didn’t drown in the sound of the rhythm and singing. The band played very tight, so the sound experience was great. The accent of the setlist were the more heavy song, with a piece of rest every now and then. It took a while to warm up the audience (what can you expect without a support?), but after a little while it became a party in the front rows, with even a small pit. The show was typical one can expect from a German band, very close to the audience. The result of this attitude towards the audience is a lot of jumping, clapping and singing. There was a small dip in the second half of the set, but the band quickly found itself back and finished the show with a couple of sound songs. Although it wasn’t sold out by far the band managed together with the audience to make this a nice party. The atmosphere, sound and the performance were each more that fine. A very good performance!
