Theudho – When Ice Crowns the Earth (2012)
Rating: 4/10
Release: Januari 2012
Label: Aurora Australis Records
A little while ago, the EP ‘War Into the World’ was reviewed, as a preparation for the next studio-album ‘When Ice Crowns the Earth’. Since the record is (almost) released, we provide another review, this time about the full-length CD.
As can be read in the review about the EP, I wasn’t really positive about the work of these men. Since the artwork looked pretty good on this CD, I was full of confidence, hoping that the CD could convince me. In good spirits, I started my first listening session of ‘When Ice Crowns the Earth’.
My hopes proved to be in vain. The CD continues where the EP stops, with the same mix of Death, Thrash and some Folk-metal influences. Although the total time of this record is a short 42 minutes, it proved to be difficult to keep my attention throughout the whole CD.
This record lacks the same as the previous EP. The songs doesn’t keep the attention, and nowhere is a song or riff to be found that is memorable. Although the style is pretty special (using thrash-influences in folk-metal), this became quickly boring.
Unfortunately, I can’t be positive about this release. , nothing spectacular, again a record which will be easy to forget!.
