Eluveitie – Live in Tilburg (2012)
Rating: 8/10
Live Registration Concert Tilburg 202
Together with ConcertLive, Eluveitie releases one of their concerts recorded during Paganfest on CD. They’ve chosen for their gig in Tilburg, and below you can find a review from this live-registration.
An immediate plus is that the design looks really neat. Artwork based on the last album ‘Helvetios’ is displayed in the front of this double-CD, and inside you can find a picture of the band.
This release comes with 2 CD’s. On the first you can find almost the whole concert, up until the encore. The second CD is empty; this is used to put on the songs of the encore. These songs can be downloaded from the website of ConcertLive. The main advantage of this is that people don’t have to wait that long to take the CD with them, really nice!
While the design is an important aspect, the music is even more. With this recordings, it’s clear that you’re listening to a live-performance. It’s just basically mixed and mastered, but the sound isn’t optimal. This benefits the atmosphere, you really get the feeling that you are at a gig of Eluveitie. Also, small mistakes and errors aren’t mixed away on this disc. This doesn’t positively affect the music, but it does give a real impression about the concert.
Furthermore, we can’t complain about the songs on this disc. While most of the songs are from the new album ‘Helvetios’, they still play their classic songs like ‘Inis Mona’ and ‘Tegernakô’.
This disc is a nice reminiscence to the fans who witnessed the concert in Tilburg, and want to enjoy it a second time. For the other fans, this disc doesn’t have that much extra value, though it’s always nice to hear how the band really plays, without all the changing and mixing done in the studio.
