VallorcH – ‘Stories of North’ (EP 2012)
Rating: 6/10
Release: 11 May 2012
Label: Independent
That folk-metal isn’t always from the north of Europe proves Vallorch. This band is from Italy and was founded in 2010. With ‘Stories of the North’ they recorded their first work. At the moment, they’re finding a way to release this CD to a broader audience.
The music of Vallorch is, while they come from the south of Europe, strongly inspired by the great bands from the north. Musically it has this typical sound; heavy guitars and drums, backed up by Bagpipe, Accordion, and different whistles. Regarding the vocals, it sounds a bit like Battlelore; female vocals, completed by male grunts.
Generally speaking, this record sounds descent. It never surpasses the middle-regions, mainly due to the fact that the music tends to be a bit chaotic. However, since this is Vallorchs first release, I sure think this band has potential.
