Flammensturm – ‘Nur für den Augenblick’ (2012)

Flammensturm. Looking at the name, I expected the typical German folk-rock. Nothing was less true. Flammensturm is metal. Metal of the blackest sort.
‘Nur für den augenblick’ is the second full-length of these Austrian guys. With a duration near the 70 minutes, they’re playing like the world could end every minute, and atrabilious black-metal is what they play. After a rubbish spoken intro, the true violence is unleashed. Tremelo-guitarriffs, raging fast double bass, the tempo is really high! However, sometimes the band takes a step back, making place for atmospheric passages.
Musically it all sounds pretty descent, though the vocals are a bit to prominent in the mix. Nice, fast black-metal, with enough attention paid to melody to make it listenable. While the CD has a pretty high standard, rock-bottom is reached with the song ‘Feuer’. Lyrics like ‘Feuer, Feuer, Feuer, Black Metal Feuer’ are just too bad to be taken seriously.
All in all a descent record, which is certainly worth listening for the fans of black-metal.
