Stozhar – ‘Ni shagu nazad’ (2013)
By: Gur
Rating: 8/10
Release: 24 April 2013
Label: Stygian Crypt Productions
This Russian band from Yaroslavl, which lies 250 km north of Moskou, is doing thing right from the start. Eight songs which are all very nicely put together.
We all know very nice accordion, mixed with metal and Russian language from bands like Arkona and Stojar is almost just as good and this isn’t bad for a first record!
Every now and then bagpipes, synths, whistles and violin are added to the track, making them very complete and very nice to listen to.
They managed to create a nice mix of more quieter pieces and the raw work and of the the clean vocals and grunts. They put down a delicious Slavic atmosphere.
