One morning, I woke without energy. Spend half the day watching the television and done some FB. Until…
…I started to review this album. Speedmetal, Folk, screaming, Russians… It screams energy.
Let’s continue with what you are here for:
It’s a good album, the folk and metal blends perfectly, the grunting gives it a good touch. I’d be worried if they’d change their sound, for this matches. Bastion lives up to its name: you can’t go around it, and it’ll conquer your CD standard for sure. The folk music moments are great, it mixes good with how the drummer holds back for some seconds before the conquering continues.
Their music consist of solid guitars in most of the time up-tempo tracks, with pounding drums and the use of accordion and Zhaleika. A perfect folk-metal blend.
The only downside is, I believe they could have done better. compared to their earlier work it’s a bit of a standstill. A pleasurable standstill, and I impatiently wait for their next album. Who knows what surprises they have waiting in the studio for the fans.
