Barbar’O’Rhum – ‘Demo’ (2015)
Rating: 6,5/10
Release: 2015
Label: Independent
Barbar’O’Rhum has completed their line-up last year and now it’s time for a demo, to show the world what their up to. With a name like this, you’ll expect some happy drunk pirates. And that’s what you’ll get aright.
This French band blends the happy flavours of rum, sea and rock. Not the Celtic Punk, but close, not pirate metal, but close. A bit like when you’re drunk, you aim and miss. But these guys know what they’re doing, they created this sound on purpose and it’s nice, that’s for sure. They play quite a fierce kind of rock spiced with flutes and full of happy alcoholic tunes. And with these tree songs on this demo, you can imagine what you get with this band. I’m sure they’re good for a lot of fun at your party.
The downside of this demo is, like we experienced earlier, the recordings. This is not a demo, which makes you wonder, why they don’t make it a regular album. The production can be done a lot better, but it isn’t that bad, that it’s hard to listen to.
So, when your throwing a pirate party soon, listen to this French band and hire them.
