Mickey Rickshaw – ‘No Heaven for Heroes’ (2015)
By: Vinícius
Rating: 8.2/10
Release: 17 June 2015
Label: Independent
Mickey Rickshaw has released their début full length album ‘No Heaven for Heroes’. Great doses of Punk (and Ska sometimes) with traditional Irish instruments and licks.
Okay, but that’s expected, right!? Right. In fact, what surprises in this album is the nice balance between the all instruments, voices and choirs, despite the good record quality. Really nice job for a first full length.
After the instrumental opening ‘La Burla Negra’ (something like ‘black mockery’ (?)), the album begins with the ‘Sapphire Hills’ that dictates the rhythm of the whole album. The best songs are ‘Sapphire Hills’ and ‘I’m Sorry Ms. Mahoney’.
Of twelve songs, eleven are new ones, the exception is ‘Australian Sun’, which can also find in the EP ’16 Down and Back Again’, released in 2013.
About the cover art: Okay, but it could be more creative.
