Asmegin – ‘Hin vordende Sod & Sø’ (2003)
Rating: 10/10
Release: 14 October 2003
Label: Napalm Records
In my opinion, “Hin vordende Sod & Sø” is one of the best Folk/Viking metal albums in history. It’s fantastic! A masterpiece.
There are countless variations of vocals, from clean to harsh ones, with keyboards, flutes and violins… intense and fast drums, sometimes insanely fast (in a way which is hard to see in folk/viking metal bands). From extreme and brutal metal to atmospheric and folk, in the perfect dose.
Impeccable production and mixing and whatever.
The voice of Lars Nedland (Borknagar, Solefald) is incredible and is perfect when together of harsh (Bjørn Olav Holter) and female vocals (Sareeta). The lyrics are in old norse, which turns the album more peculiar. The band holds your attention during all album, which is a very difficult task.
“Hin vordende Sod & Sø” have heart, soul, feelings…
