The Pogues… what can I say? The most influential celtic-punk band of all time. The Pogues songs and vocalist Shane MacGowan are iconic and need no introduction. In the tribute there are 27 songs played by 27 celtic-punk bands, from all places in the world. The album begins with the Indonesian band The Cloves And The Tobacco with “Curse of love”, followed by ShamRocks from the Ukraine, playing “Wild Unicorns of Kilkenny”. IS REALLY HARD TO POINT THE HIGHLIGHTS HERE! Craic Haus “A Pair of Brown Eyes” is brilhant. Всё_CRAZY, from Belarus, playing “My Baby’s Gone” is another album highlight. This song is from the album “Waiting For Herb”, the first one without Shane. There are bands that I really don’t know how pronounce the name and others I never heard about… but are amazing! Impressive job. Crow Dog Clan also chose a non-Shane song “Oretown”, from “Pogue Mahone”, the last studio album by The Pogues (an unusual choice I think). To close, Kozlobar from Russia and the instrumental “Battle of Brisbane”. “Tribute to The Pogues” is a fantastic collection of bands and songs which shows how important and acclaimed is The Pogues around the world. –
