There are two kinds of metal lovers. One the one side there are those whose faces change in silly grins with every band that has the word ‘Troll’ in it. And there are millions that skip exactly those bands. Of course, not one side is right or wrong. It’s a matter of taste. The question is whether Trollwar is making similar music to the likes of Trollfest and Finntroll. Guess what? I’ve got a silly grin on my face.
After an EP and a full album Canadian Trollwar thought it a good idea to release a single to keep the troll lovers happy, waiting for an EP release in 2017. And I for one am glad they do. It’s loud, the voice is hoarse, yet understandable, the sound is good. And more important, these guys know how to write a proper song. Within 4 ½ minutes you get thumping drums, an accordion on speed, a nice three four-time piece and a thundering finale. It’s like a summary of a rather interesting book. It’s catchy, so Trollfest haters can skip this one. It’s not as happy as Freedom Call, though. It’s metal all right. Played the way I like it.
