The Crazy Rogues – ‘Rebels’ Shanties’ (EP 2017)
Rating: 7.5/10
Release: 1 February 2017
Label: Independent
Hungarian Celtic Punk band The Crazy Rogues released their 2nd EP ‘Rebel’s Shanties’. I have to admit, I’m not familiar with their first piece, which carries the title ‘Chapter One’.
This EP hits of with ‘And Then The Sky Fell’, quite an energetic song, which makes you turn your head at once. But it’s not all music to struggle in a huge pit, ‘Fleet’ is one of those songs where you grab your neighbour and a pint and sway. I’m always a fan of bands which sing in their native language, but it’s not necessary, you can sing in English. In ‘Fleet’ however the accent is far to heavy, I would prefer Hungarian here.
With ‘Sad Leprechaun’ the band shows they can do all kind of Celtic Punk stuff, this weird song is very nice to listen to.
‘Rebels Shanties’ could use some more power in my opinion. A little bit of extra spice would make it nicer to me, but it’s a very nice EP overall, and I would definitely like to hear more of them in the future.
