Triddana – ‘Rising From Within’ (2018)
Rating: 10/10
Release: 26 June 2018
Label: Independent
If you have already listened to Triddana, this album is precisely what is expected of this Argentine band. A lot of power, a great voice, and catchy melodies adorned in a greatly way by Pablo Allen’s bagpipes.
With their 4th and new release, they are – as always – a breath of fresh air in the folk metal scene, proving the great quality of bands that we can see all over the world and reminding us to also look at outside Europe when speaking of folk-metal, this time: South America.
The bagpipe makes us forget at times that there are also guitars and other instruments, which has both good and bad. We love -we carry folk in the blood- hear how it stands out with good melodies, but you have to appreciate the great talent that all the members of the band have. An impressive voice from Juan José Fornés, and instrumentation with such great quality that evolves more and more from that previous Skiltron sound until it shines with its own light.
It is hard to highlight a single song when each of the tracks impacts the same. I can highlight the melodies of “Journey to the Rim” or the power of “Our time’s coming”, but I do not want to leave aside the good thing that all this work has, which in my opinion, is a great recommendation.
Folkers, rockers, metalheads… everyone will enjoy this album enormously.
