Alkonost – ‘Oktagramma’ (2018)
Rating: 8/10
Release: 19 October 2018
Label: Independent
Alkonost, the Russian band that has not stopped working since 1997, returns with its 11th new album true to its style. Starting with “Тропа к весне”, the welcoming track that brings a catchy and pleasant melody, its guitars have the power of their particular style, atmospheric voices and sounds that transport the audience preparing with anticipation what this album contains although you could feel a little less metal than in previous releases but without forgetting why metal fans enjoy the sounds of the band so much.
With very nice voices “Вслед молодой заре” continues the same path, continuing through very good songs like “Танец цветенья” -my personal favorite- that feels more powerful in riffs and choruses, a song that possibly we will see grow in popularity in the scene due to its quality and sound. “Папоротник”: It is not far behind being another excellent song, then calming down with more atmospheric and somewhat relaxing songs to ends Октаграмма with very good drum rhythms with “Сны тёмного моря”.
In general, it is an album that shows us the experience of the band but does not seek to propose many changes in their style. Perfect for fans of the band who will have what they like about Alkonost: quality, experience and a particular sound wrapped in a beautiful voice.
