Cernunnos Interview
Interview with Cernunnos
After a brief hiatus, South American Folk Metallers Cernunnos has returned with a new EP entitled The Svmmoner. I got in touch with the band for an interview about the album and the future and received a fairly quick reply.
Your new EP the Svmmoner has a noticeably different feel than your previous album. Has something inspired the transition in songwriting?
“Actually, yes. This is the first time that we decided to compose for a specific record. This is a new era for us and since we recorded our single “Survivors”, we’ve decided to aim to that way, a new, darker, pagan and arcane model. All three lyrics are connected to each other in the story.”
The single you released last year, “Survivors”, also has a dark story to its lyrics and seems like part of an overarching narrative. How does “Survivors” fit into your future material?
“‘Survivors’ is also part from our upcoming album, along with the entire The Svmmoner EP. Is a big story told from different perspectives and characters. “Survivors” is a story told from the curiosity and madness.”
On the new EP there are some repeated motifs from the intro “Cycles”. Is there some overarching story to the album?
“We wanted to summarize and to give a “Sneak-Peak” of the whole EP in form a ritual performed by the witch. That is what Cycles is.”
Since your previous full-length album you have been picked up by the DarkTunes music group. What was the process like?
“It was beautiful! DarkTunes is an amazing and professional label. They received us with a warm welcome and it’s still very good to work with DarkTunes. We really recommend them.”
Do you have any closing remarks for readers?
“Of course! We recommend them to keep updated with the upcoming news because we have plenty and most of them will surprise you!
Thank you very much for your time and support!”
The Svmmoner is available through bandcamp and spotify among others and a review can be found on this site.
