Ashes and Snow. The product of our self-destructive nature. The bleak, depressing, and inevitable future of mankind. But life is tenacious! It has been near eradication numerous times on this planet. Like a phoenix it will rise from the ashes once again, long after we are gone. The universe is vast and full of wonder, and we are merely like the ant being observed from above, incapable of comprehending all the hidden dimensions around us.
This is the essence of Sylvatica’s new album “Ashes and Snow”, for which the band has just released a music/playthrough video for the album’s title track. The video was shot in Sylvatica’s own rehearsal room in Nyborg, Denmark, with near and dear friend of the band, Hans Peter Mønsted.
Sylvatica started as a folkish black metal project in 2009, while listening to Svartsot.
The first Sylvatica release was the song ‘Mjölner og Mjöd’, followed by their first EP / demo ‘Sagn og Sagaer’ in 2010.
