Dirty Shirt – ‘Get You Dose Now’ (2022)
Release: 1 April 2022
Dirty Shirt is back with a new album ‘Get You Dose Now!’ When you see the coverart it’s obvious this is not the usual stuff. Where lots of the bands featured on Folk-metal.nl tend towards the more nostalgic aspects of folk-music. No, not Dirty Shirt, they blend nu-metal, hardcore, metalcore and other styles with the typical balkan folk.
Where I immediately loved the previous Dirty Shirt albums it took me quite a while to adept to this one. But when I listened to it today, I can appreciate it a lot more.
The albums starts off with a great intro ‘New Boy in Town’, this tracks simply gets me rocking my chair. The track is shouting: More!!!
From there it goes on with the nice mix of all these styles and the nice orchestrated chaos with all the voices, clear singing, grunts and cleas female backing vocals. A bit of a chaos, but so nice…
After six typical Dirty Shirt songs there’s a ballad, at least ‘Cans s-o-mpartit norocu’ starts of like that. This is not a typical ballad, there are some louder parts in it, but the band pulls this off and created a very nice song. Great!
After the second part of this song they close the regular album with ‘Geamparalele’. A great one to end the regular album with.
There’s a bit more. There are no less then 4 bonustracks on this album and they are all a very nice add to this release.
Dirty Shirt did a good job again and ‘Get Your Dose Now!’ is a very nice album to listen to and it deserves a listen. But be aware it took me quite a while before I got used to it and could appreciate it’s beauty.
