Nemoreus is a six-member Austrian folk-metal band who probably don’t even need this amount of introduction. I wrote reviews for chapters one and two, and I’d recommend going back and reading them first. So, two points make a line and three establish a pattern. Just shy of 11 minutes, we’ve got another three tracks in the saga bringing the total to nine. More whistles and fiddles, moody melodies and fierce woodland power. Warrior and wanderer, meet Rogue.
“Angst”, in German, blends right in where Chapter 2 left off. I listened to the entire saga– the previous six tracks that is, and this seemed to fit right in. It had the same plaintive tones as “Horns of War” from Chapter 1. It has a rockin’ back third, though, with some impressive rhythm and lead guitars and tin whistle magic.
“Orcunadoras”, in English, made me stop and perk up. We finally have a title track, and it’s everything I love about the album in a neat little package.
“We Sleep in Hell”, also in English, closes the chapter and this is the chorus that’s going to get stuck in your head (if Orcunadoras didn’t already).
In short, this works really well. These three songs are just as tight and well-composed as the previous six. As I’ve written before, it’s a great form factor that gets music to the listeners more quickly. It’s an engaging story so far, and I want them to keep releasing these forever.
