Bunch of Bastards – ‘Drink, Holler and Dance’ (2023)
Rating: 8.5/10
Release: 26 November 2023
Label: Independent
I have to admit I lost BoB’s tracks a bit since their 2016 album ‘My Drinkin’ ain’t Done’. The vocals didn’t really work for me. But listening to their new full length ‘Drink, Holler and Dance’ made me realise this influenced their music even more.
I started the album and the almost the first thing I did was checking if it was the right album I started playing. Luckily for me and even more for Bunch of Bastards this was the case.
My goodness what a difference this makes. Jasper has taken over the vocals and what a hell of a differance this makes. Wow, these bastards have found themselves a new singer and they dongs have improved with 100% or maybe even more. Despite of the fact I don’t have to bother about the vocals anymore, their safe in the hands of this man, the music sounds more solid in this way. The songs sound the same, a lot of them are old ones, but done like this they their music really has balls.
Any flaws? Yes. I know this album wasn’t really planned like this. The aim was to record a few songs, but this went very well and they had the time to record a lot more. Since their last album was from 2016 they should have released an album loaded with new songs. But since they all sound better, I forgive them.
So, use their previous album to as a coaster for your pint of Guiness while listening to their new album ‘Drink, Holler and Dance’.
