New Album Aexylium on the way
Aexylium, formed in Italy in 2014, blends the raw energy of modern metal with the evocative sounds of traditional instruments creating a unique and dynamic folk metal identity. Over the years, the band has gained recognition across Europe performing at major festivals, including Dong Open Air 2024 where they shared the stage with Blind Guardian.
Following “Tales from This Land” (2018) and “The Fifth Season” (2021), Aexylium returns with their most ambitious work to date: “Myth of Mankind”. This third album, released via Rockshots Records, showcases a more cohesive and refined sound, balancing powerful orchestrations, intricate melodies and dynamic shifts between aggressive and melodic elements. The record expands beyond the band’s previous reliance on Norse mythology, embracing abstract and introspective themes while maintaining their signature blend of folk instrumentation and heavy metal intensity.
Aexylium’s lineup has evolved with the addition of drummer Alberto Mezzanotte (ex-Frozen Crown, currently in Nekomata and Apple Sauce), guitarist Luca Perrone (founder of Apple Sauce) and new frontman Sam Biganzoli, whose versatile vocal approach adds new depth to the band’s sound. His interplay with Arianna Bellinaso ethereal voice enhances the contrast between orchestral grandeur and raw metal power setting this album apart from their previous works.
The band’s meticulous songwriting process results in a seamless and immersive listening experience, where folk melodies, symphonic arrangements and technical guitar work coexist fluidly. Their live performances reflect this synergy, delivering an explosive and engaging stage presence.
For fans of Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Amorphis, Folkstone, Alestorm and Mago de Oz, “Myth of Mankind” solidifies Aexylium’s place among the rising forces in modern folk metal, offering a fresh and innovative approach to the genre.
