Label:
Crash Nomada, the Swedish folk punk band, released a new album in May called “Innan Mörkeret Faller”. In this new album Crash Nomada shows that they manage their ethno-punk folk in an excellent way, both with regard to the lyrics and the music. Ragnar Bey’s voice is really well balanced, as if it was created to tell every kind of story that is told in this album. The texts through which the stories are told, in fact, have depth, beauty and sharpness in them. The album is permeated with sadness and darkness, but still the feeling is that the album is very nice, also because Crash Nomada are very good at not falling into the ethno-folk clichés with “Innan Mörkret Faller”.
Musically speaking, the Crash Nomada are distinguished from many bands of the ethno-folk scene because in this album you can recognize different genres, such as kletzmer (the typical music created by Ashkenazi Jews, which can be heard in “Öppna en til”, in which you can also hear some gypsy influence), the already mentioned gipsy music, Balkan influences, Swedish, African rhythms, you can also hear influences of punk from the early 90s. The Swedish band shows that they have taken a step forward compared to previous productions. Among the 10 tracks that make up the album, some stand out: “Hela vägen ner”, with a very ska and folk sound, “Trasiga” from the sound tending to reggae music, the already mentioned “Innan mörkret faller”, very gipsy with kletzmer influences, “Människor”, with a drum that sounds very far away and “Tusen platåer” which has a good instrumental base.
In conclusion, with “Innan Mörkret faller” Crash Nomada have proved themselves as technically able musicians and capable of mastering the art of blending various genres together (folk rock, world music, gipsy music), making this last album as one of the best albums of its kind of 2025
