The Russian band Ivan Tzarevich is founded in 1999 in Moscow. They describe their style as epic-folk-metal. It’s a fusion of Russian folklore and modern heavy metal. It’s a lot less heavy then we’re used to with other bands. The ideology of the band is based on Slavic religion, philosophy and patriotism and the rebirth of native-born culture and spiritual wealth. They take great care of their shows, for instance, the re-enacting and fence-group Tzitadel has taken part in their shows with spectacular medieval fights with old weapons and a fire-show.
