Skálmöld is an Icelandic band, founded in 2009. The band started immediately, with 5 members, to work on a debut-album. After a few months there was a keyboard player added to the band. The classical background makes there are also classical dimensions in their music.
Their playing powerful Melodic and Viking Metal, mixed with Icelandic darkness and folk-influences. The lyrics are written by the strict rules of traditional Icelandic poetry.
In 2010 they record a demo to define the sound of the band.
After this they enter the studio to record the epic and dramatic story of the Icelandic Viking Baldur on a concept album.
In 2016 the band released a DVD ‘Skálmöld og Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands’, a concertregistration in which they play with a real orchestra and choirs.
