Latvian Folk/Viking metalband Varang Nord was formed in 2004, named Balaguri and playing folk-metal at that time. After numerous performances they released their first album – Velikaya Rus’ in 2007. After that they went on a temporal hiatus.
They returned in 2014 as Varang Nord. In the same year they released their debut (as a completely new band) album – Fire of the North.
