Månegarm Open Air (2022)

Posted on 12 September 2022 by Michel13 September 2022

After two years of being postponed, for obvious reasons, the Folk Metal faithful were finally able to descend on the small Swedish town of Norrtälje for the second installment of Månegarm Open Air. Thankfully the line-up from the planned 2020 festival remained mostly unchanged as the majority of the bands, … Continue reading →

The Dropkick Murphys @ Zwarte Cross

Posted on 16 July 2022 by Michel16 July 2022

15th July 2022 The first day of “Zwarte Cross” a three-day festival is the eastern part of the Netherlands. At a normal festival this wouldn’t be worth mentioning but at the Zwarte Cross this is an essential part of the event. Despite the drought this festival is drenched with the typical dry humor of this part of the country.

Aether Realm Austin

Date: 15 September 2021 Come and Take It, Austin USA Before I dive into the music, let me give a little praise for the venue. Texas is a pretty big state, and for a student making a day trip halfway across the state during one of his two free days … Continue reading →

Celtica – ‘Celtic Spirits at Merkenstein’

Posted on 10 July 2021 by Michel10 July 2021

Rating: 9.5/10 Streaming Concert There have been many bands doing life shows during the lockdown. The format is pretty standard, just do as you would with an audience except without one. I’ve heard several bands mention the awkwardness of that approach on stage. With such a typical setup how can … Continue reading →

Event Review Volk Metal Jacket 2019 Vienna

Posted on 21 October 2019 by Michel22 December 2022

Alphayn / Interregnum / Knaat / Dystersol 12.10.2019, Viper Room Vienna

On the 12.10.2019 the Event – Management Team of Volk Metal Jacket invited us to a headliner show of Alphayn with the supports of underground sizes like Interregnum, Knaat and Dystersol. The show took place in the holy halls of the Viper Room, one of the most established Metal locations in Vienna and finally the doors opened at 19:00. To describe the Viper Room in few words, it is offering two floors, while the concert hall is located in the lower floor of the venue, offering you enough space for around 250-300 people, space for offering merchandize, a nice bar and of course a stage equipped with all light and tone technics you need.

Arkona Pagan Rebellion Tour 2019

The Chapel, San Fransisco
19 September 2019

On one warm Friday evening, I took off work early and headed to the city not to simply escape the heat and indulge in the delectable culinary offerings but to primarily see one of my favorite bands. This particular trip was especially anxious with an interview confirmed with headliners, Arkona, but more on that later.

Manegarm open air

From the moment I woke up on Saturday 24th August, the omens were good for the inaugural Månegarm Open Air festival, held in the headliner’s hometown of Norrtälje in Sweden and with a lineup featuring a veritable who’s who of Swedish Folk Metal. The sun was shining on an unseasonably warm day and … Continue reading →

The Zwarte Cross feat. The Rumjacks

Posted on 20 July 2019 by Michel16 July 2022

By: Michel
19 – 21 July 2019
Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands

When you like to spend you’re day with lots of fun, you have the chance every year again to visit the Zwarte Cross in the Netherlands.
Three days of fun and entertainment and when you’ve managed to have a spot on the festival-camping you can even add the Thursday to that.
This year The Rumjacks are the band for us, but please don’t wait until you know next years line-up. The festival is very late with band-announcements and to be honest the line-up isn’t important at all. We have to point out, the Zwarte Cross isn’t a festival as we know it, but it’s an event with lots of things.
