Interview with Chen of Orphaned Land

Posted on 25 February 2018 by Michel16 January 2021

A Big Shout Out

Israel’s folk metal pioneers Orphaned Land need no introduction. Formed in 1992, they’ve been active for more than 20 (there was a hiatus between 1997 and 2001) years and giving us prime examples of folk metal. They take their time between releases but one can always be sure that the next Orphaned Land records is going to be amazing. And we’ve assured of that once again when they returned with Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs, 5 years after All Is One. This is an utterly impressive album that is crafted passionately and diligently. I’m not at all hesitant call Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs their magnum opus. Since this was the case, an interview with them was a must. We had a chat with the lead guitarist (also bouzoukist, pianist, and xylophonist) Chen Balbus.
Enjoy.

With their new album knocking on the door, we thought is was about time to have a little talk with Nich Ireland from Battlesoul. So, if you want lo learn more about Battlesoul and their new album, here we go…

Musical trip
Congrats on your new album “Sunward And Starward”…… have you gotten any feedback about it yet?
“Yes, the reviews have started coming in already and so far the album is getting a VERY positive response. I wouldn’t mind seeing a review from someone who didn’t like the album just because it can give a different insight into what we did. I’m sure that will come with time.”

Interview with Jakke and Mikko of Crimfall

Posted on 20 January 2018 by Michel19 January 2021

Crimfall’s Bombastic Energy

Finland’s Crimfall is truly a special band which draws influences from many styles and manages to blend them together to create music that is epic, emotive and powerful without ever making it feel like it is just cluttered with random ideas. After 6 six years, they are back with their most amazing album to date, Amain, and we have the pleasure to bring you this interview with Jakke Viitala and Mikko Häkkinen.

Congratulations on your new album. Amain has been out for some time now. How has the reception been so far?
Jakke: “The reception has been very good. Both in Finland and abroad. The people and reviewers who have been following our career since “as the path unfolds” have all agreed that AMAIN is our strongest and best album so far.”

Frost Giant, Like Comets

Posted on 30 December 2017 by Michel14 January 2021

Nothing makes me happier then when local acts to me here in PA. make it big and Frost Giant are about to go supernova with their new album “The Harlot Star”. Their first full length, it will officially be released in January for their new label Transcending Records. Vocalist/guitarist Matti Frost and guitarist Scott Breustedt answered some questions for us regarding the new album, the new label and a bunch of other stuff… check it out…

The Harlot Star
Major congrats on your debut full length “The Harlot Star”… how has the feedback been so far regarding it?
Matti: “So far it’s been a bit overwhelming, to be honest. Reviewers are responding to it well and so are listeners. It’s a bit surreal and more than a little bit exciting.”
Scott: “I’m still waiting for somebody to talk shit about it. The reviews have been great. We’ve been turning some heads with this album so far. We have been all about this album since we demoed it over the last few years. Its a pretty awesome feeling seeing this sound we created being accepted by people.”
