One project that has been overlooked in my opinion is Germany’s Skjaldborg but in some regards it does make sense. The debut album (“Todgeweiht”) was released way back in 2014 and it has been quiet since then…. until now. “Krieg Liegt Mir Im Blut” was released in January and picks up where “Todgeweiht” left off with some new tangents while keeping to the original sound. Main member Virus answered some questions for us regarding the album, the writing process, the struggle to get the album completed and some other items of note….check it out….

It is a pleasure for me to have the opportunity to make today an interview with Zagan from the Folk/Viking Metal pioneers of Black Messiah.

Even that your latest release “Walls of Vanaheim“ already leads back three years ago, there is always some activity going on within Black Messiah. Already in the summer of 2019 you announced a re-release of your first full length release “Sceptre of Black Knowledge“ ( Black Metal Release) and you planned to play some exclusive “Old School Shows” with songs from your first two albums. Why you decided to do so? What was the feedback out of your fan base?

As grim as 2020 has been, one major bright spot has been the debut album from Baltimore Maryland USA’s Isenmor. “Shieldbrother” has swept in and become my debut of the year and with good reason…..the album is filled to the rim with epic folk metal with track after relentless track. We had a handful of the Isenbrood attack some questions we sent their way. Violinist Mark Williams, Bassist/Vocalist Mike Wilson, Guitarist/Vocalist Tim Regan, Violinist/Vocalist Nick Schneider and Guitarist Pete Lesko all contributed to questions regarding the album, the songwriting, the crowdfund campaign and a few other items of note… check it out…

“Hello there! Thank you for having us. We are an eight-member pack from the biggest village in Czechia, Brno, combining symphonic and folk metal music since 2013. Strong male growl, soft feminine vocals, guitars, drums, keyboard, flute and violin are our weapons and stage is our battleground. It all comes in the wild and animalistic package on our gigs and melancholic, emotive and beautiful mood in our music.”

Aether Realm Interview
After reviewing their new album, Redneck Vikings from Hell, I reached out to Aether Realm for an interview. The guys from the band seemed very open to the idea, and we got some excellent meaningful answers in reply about the background of the album, how the pandemic affected the industry, and some of their self-referential songs.

Sonically Powerful
Sojourner Interview

I am truly fulfilled when a band I have been following since early on makes it big. There is no better example of this than the epic Sojourner. On paper, you would think having members in multiple countries would never work but they have persevered and to great success. A signing to Napalm and a 3rd album out this year with “Premonitions” has made for a larger audience to finally hear what many of us already knew… a multi-faceted project that is ushering in a new era in symphonic metal with tangents into other genres. Two of the band member tackled some questions for us regarding the album, the signing, the process and some other things. Vocalist Emilio Crespo and guitarist Mike Lamb tooks turns at answering them and here is what they had to say… check it out…
