Epic Comeback

Achsar Interview

It was nice to get a folk metal related release from Slovakia this year in the form of a new EP by Achsar. Formed in 2004, it has been 5 years since their debut album (“Septentrionalis”) and they have finally gotten back together with “In Battle I Was Born”… 5 tracks, 18 minutes of epicness and a great comeback of sorts for them. After the EP ‘Liberté’ in 2013, and the albums ‘Nacht und Stürme werden Licht’ in 2014 and ‘Stolzes Wesen Mensch’ in 2015 we had to do without new releases of Munarheim for a while. But now they’re back with a beautiful new album ‘Willens & Frei’, delivered in German and international edition. The style of the band is a very exclusive one with distinctive vocals, harsh, sad, full of pain. There is a nice contrast of these vocals with the light flutes and whistles and there are these awesome choirs and orchestrations. Time to chat with singer Sebastian about all these things.

A county I like to visit for the nature, folklore and food, but where the tourism is starting to spoil things along the black sea coast. Bergatagen Interview

Be warned…….there is a band of trolls coming to tear your head off with some amazing new music. Sweden’s Bergatagen have just issued their debut album “Bärsärkatoner” and it will definitely screw you up. Filled with classic troll black metal and some folky touches, it is definitely a contender for debut of the year for me. Two of the trolls, Svartgrimme and Huggsint answered some questions for us lowly humans regarding the name, the music and the possibility of mangling the crowd if they ever played live…check it out…..
