Officially released on March … Continue reading →

Austrailia’s Stormtide have return after a long hiatus with their sophomore album “A Throne Of Hollow Fire”. If you are looking for a brief description how about some face smashing epic melodic death/folk metal? Sounds good to me. It’s in Skjaldborg’s Blood

Posted on 21 February 2021 by Michel11 November 2022

One project that has been overlooked in my opinion is Germany’s Skjaldborg but in some regards it does make sense. The debut album (“Todgeweiht”) was released way back in 2014 and it has been quiet since then…. until now. “Krieg Liegt Mir Im Blut” was released in January and picks up where “Todgeweiht” left off with some new tangents while keeping to the original sound. Main member Virus answered some questions for us regarding the album, the writing process, the struggle to get the album completed and some other items of note….check it out….

Gjallarhorn Memories, Nightmares, Ash

Rating: 9/10 Release: 21 December 2020 Label: Independent / Bandcamp One of my favorite releases from 2019 and one that I felt should be required listening was “The Black Tower” from Ukraine’s Gjallarhorn. A very unique release in the form of a concept EP, “The Black Tower” still holds up … Continue reading →

Interview with Utmarken

2021 is off to an amazing start with the pending release from Sweden’s Utmarken. “Svåra År” will blow you away with it’s mix of soaring vocals, catchy riffs and the unique sound of the nyckelharpa. I sent some questions over to one of my favorite artists, vocalist and nyckelharpist Mathias Gyllengahm. The questions include the new album, the vocals, the pandemic and how it has effected them amongst other things… check it out…
