Hand of Kalliach’s sound is a blend of Gaelic and Celtic overtones from Scottish folk music with a very metal foundation. We tend not to use traditional instruments, instead lifting rhythms, time signatures and patterns from traditional music and adapt them for distorted guitars instead. We also use a little Scottish Gaelic as well. The EP has a range of styles in it across the tracks and we’d be really grateful for any feedback to guide our future writing. In terms of instruments, John does vocals, guitars and drums, and Sophie does bass and vocals, however we very much write and record the songs together to make sure we agree we’re capturing the atmosphere.
